Super sweet tripod, Ravelli APGL4 New Professional 70 Tripod.
Before purchasing this, I had never before seen a ball mounted tripod before. I have been doing scenic photography for 25 years as an amateur enthusiast, and finally decided to look into a really sturdy tripod that wouldn’t sag when being used for unusual angles and with a heavier lens. This thing is amazing. I would expect it to cost much more. Almost the entire thing is made of metal, but isn’t heavy. It is a bit larger than my previous tripod, but that’s to be expected for the sturdiness and functionality. The ball mount locks my camera in place like a rock. It is very easy and quick to change the orientation of the camera. I am very pleased with it. Get it at this price while you can.

This tripod is heavy, but it is solid. Mounted our Canon 7D with the 70-200mm L lens on it and flipped it 90 degrees and it held strong. Haven’t had a tripod yet that could do that. Built like a Manfrotto with easily adjustable legs that let you get really low and yet it extends super high. I am 6 feet and when this baby is all the way up, I cannot see through the view finder. This works great when you want to get a view from a higher angle and with the camera connected to an external monitor and a shutter release cable, good things come out. The pistol grip is very firm and you have to squeeze it hard to move, but again, this relates to the stability of the overall tripod. Good tripod, expecially for the price.

I really like this tripod. The construction is very solid and the materials are good, with very little use of plastic. I am 6 feet tall and the tripod could extend another 6 inches beyond the height I require.

As others have said, the fit has some inconsistencies. The finish is very good, but the quality of the assembly can vary. For instance, the leg locks as received differed in the amount of pressure required to lock them. This was easily adjusted by using the supplied Allen wrenches. The ball head also needed some fine tuning, which again was easy to do with the wrenches.

There were two quick release plates included, and one would snap into the ball head securely, while the other would not. I found that the working one had been modified at the factory by grinding a slight bevel along the edge of the slot that the ball head latch engages. I used a Dremel tool to grind a similar bevel on the second plate and now it snaps as securely into place as the first. The quick release plates are then further locked by turning a knob which clamps them to the ball head. The ball head itself clamps very securely – no hint of slippage.

If you are looking for a very solid tripod for a modest price and can deal with a little fine tuning, then I highly recommend this one!.

I only write reviews when a product is above and beyond my expectations, and this one deserves a quick review. Just received my Ravelli Tripod today. My first impressions are outstanding. From all appearances, this looks like a reliable, light weight, sturdy tripod to take photos in any setting. I have owned several different tripods over the years and this is by far the best I’ve found in this price range. If the size and features suit your needs, you should give this one a go. Mine even came with a bonus table top tripod, and each tripod came with its own carrying case. Very nice. If you are having doubts, just buy one, you’ll be glad you did.

I bought this tripod because i wanted a light-weight tripod when riding my bike. The tripod is sturdy and comes with 2 quick release plates. The quick release plates seem a bit small but do the job. They have a safety catch that prevents the camera from sliding out when loosened. The ball head holds firm without having to over tighten. The panning is smooth but shifts when tightening. This is an excellent tripod for the price.

The bag unzips on top and a little on the side making is a bit cumbersome to put the tripod back in but seems to be pretty durable for normal use. I havent used the smaller tripod that comes with it but is seems to only be good for point and shoot cameras. It could be a nice gift for a friend who only has a point and shoot.

I am very satisfied with this tripod and would recommend it to anyone who wants a great tripod without spending a lot of money.

The tripod arrived right on time and was shipped with great care. The tripod works fantastic and is perfect for the type of shooting that I do. Quick to setup and attach a camera with just some twists of the wrist. I have several tripods with the lock tabs and the twist locks on this work allot faster and better. The tripod will also allow you to lower the legs all the way so that they are flat to the floor. I just cant say enough about this tripod really. The good thing is that the tripod comes with 2 camera shoe (shoes?) so you can have two cameras to hot swap. The other great thing is that the tripod shoe doesn’t block the battery door on my Canon Rebel which other tripods did.

The included baby tripod is stable for a point and shoot, but I will not be attaching my DSLR to it. Great products for the price and how can you beat a free tripod.

GREAT sturdy tripod!, Dolica ST-500 68-Inch Lightweight Tripod.
Love it, Pans smoothly, very easy quick release plate and sets up in a snap. I think it is very sturdy. Seems well constructed and has a nice black canvas back with a strap for slinging over your shoulder. It says it can take up to 11 pounds. The tripod weighs a little over 4 pounds. I use my husband as my personal sherpa, so he can carry it when we trek out together.
You can also tilt the plate and lock it for vertical shots.
Got a great deal on this baby, very happy, Super easy to use.

Best tripod for the money, Dolica ST-500 68-Inch Lightweight Tripod.
This is by far the best tripod I have ever had and it so cheap. It is lightweight, easy to carry in the field and tall, much taller than the majority of the competition. I am 6 feet tall and this tripod is 68 Inch tall with the column in the lowest position so I never have any back problems. I can raise the column only 3 Inch and stand upright so it is comfortable when you are shooting all your pictures on a tripod. If you need more weight just hang some weight on the hook on the center post. All in all it truly is the best for the money.

I Just received my tripod, and was blown away by the quality, and the price. I have tried to find an affordable FLUID HEAD tripod for my camcorders for several years, and it seems they are harder to find than hen’s teeth. After using a typical cheap tripod, with mechanics that are about as smooth as gravel, this tripod with all of it’s features, and smooth action, is amazing for the price. I’d recommend it to anyone contemplating it’s purchase.

I love this tripod, which replaces an aluminum Bogen that I’ve had for years. The tripod sets up quickly, and unlike the experience of another reviewer, mine is perfectly level when the legs are at full extension. There were no flaws, no loose screws, and this is an unbelievably versatile tripod compared to what I had before. I use this for travel and hiking. It is a little on the heavier side than some of the other aluminum tripods on the market, but it is rock solid. It is extremely stable even with the center column fully extended. I love the degree markings on the head, perfect for stitching panoramic shots. The feet have metal spikes, but also rubber feet that will screw down over the spikes for indoor work. The only reason I titled this review “almost perfect” is that if the tripod had a removable handle for rotating the ball hand, for panning for example, it would be perfect. I spent a LOT of time researching all the tripods available in the market now and I found this to be the best mix of value, versatility, and quality.

I’m not a professional photographer by any means but this tripod is 20x better than anything I have found in local stores, aside from overpriced camera shops. Qaulity is excellent and seems very durable. The few times I have used it, the tripod has been nothing short of amazing! The only thing I think I miss with this particular tripod is the lever handle you have on others to allow you to pan your camera. Not a big deal for my dslr but would have been nice for the video camera as I think they eliminate a little shake panning this way rather than moving your camera. It was still obvious by the pictures that this was without one so it’s not too big of a deal. Awesome construction and functionality otherwise!
I forgot to mention that when this was delivered someone walked off with my package. I spent a couple days on the phone with the post office to confirm that it was delivered and it was. I got on the live chat with an Amazon Rep and he was so helpful and thorough. He had a replacement item shipped out within a few hours and it was at my door the following day! I was so worried I’d have to jump through hoops to get another one and was elated that I still had it at my door before I left town (the same day it was delivered) and planned on originally using it. Awesome customer service Amazon.

Great tripod, great price, Sony VCT-R640 Lightweight Tripod.
I bought this tripod a short while ago, and I’m extremely glad I did. It’s very light and easy to carry around, even without a carrying bag or even a handle, neither of which it comes with. The bubble level built into it is very handy to have and works well. And with a little practice, you can break and set it, camera attached, in 10 to 15 seconds, so you won’t miss that once in a lifetime shot. It’s also very inexpensive and easy to use, with a head that has a fantastic range of movement. And while the legs, when fully extended, don’t bring it all the way up to eye level, it brings it close enough to keep you comfortable while looking through the camera. If need be, just buy a small folding travel chair to carry with you and use with the tripod.

It has been more than 1 month since I received this product. I am very happy with this purchase. It’s a very solid and well-made product. Although part of it might be plastic made as others mentioned, it does not feel flimsy at all. My sony camcorder and nikon DSLR fit perfectly on this tripod. I definitely recommend this tripod.

I have been using this for almost for a year now and I have been using it quite often. It has travelled with me overseas twice and it has been at quite rough remote places. So far, it is still holding up. I like the light weight, the quick release feature and the ease of setting it up. I mostly use it with my DSLR and its quite sturdy. I give it a 5 stars and will recommend to anyone.
